Hey everyone! I know my updates have been spotty in recent weeks, but this is mainly because I’ve been doing a lot more on the weekends to enjoy the summer weather while it’s here.
I plan on resuming more of a normal schedule as the weather cools off — I hope you all understand ;)
Today’s color is Essie All Tied Up, which I swatched a while back, and am just now getting the time to post about.
This is a dusty reddish creme with gold and/or bronzy micro glitter. Like Bikini So Teeny, the glitter is far more evident in the bottle than it is on the nail.
The lack of glitter visibility seems like a missed opportunity to me, but maybe there’s a subtle effect that I’m not picking up on. *Shrug*
This formula was better than some of the other shades from the Essie Summer 2012 collection that I’ve swatched.

All Tied Up applied quite easily, smoothing on to a pretty sufficient level of opacity after one coat. I applied a second coat to ensure maximum evenness, and I was pretty happy with how it looked once I was done.
It has kind of a sophisticated and understated vibe that I like.
Its dusty, somewhat fleshy mauve tone reminds me of the color of lips, if that doesn’t sound too bizarre…
Viscosity was favorable, with little fight required to get the polish where you wanted it and nowhere else. After a few seconds on the nail, the brush strokes leveled out and the color looked nicely finished.
As a sidebar, I want to congratulate Anna M., who won my latest giveaway! Her items were mailed out about a week ago, so I’m guessing she’s probably enjoying her new indie glitters right about now.
Keep your eyes peeled for more giveaways in the future.

Welcome back! I always have such terrible luck with Essie. I either get the rare awesome one, or I get the dogs. I am sincerely afraid to lay any more cash down on them.

Yeah. I think since they were purchased for drug store mainstreaming, they’ve seemed to start to drop off in quality.

You’re right–it’s a very “lip” colour! It’d be even prettier if they could get that shimmer to translate (seems like Essie frequently has problems with that).

I totally agree that more visible shimmer would’ve improved this polish. Why even put it in if it’s not going to bring anything to the party? By the way, yours is the 750th comment on my site! Congrats!

I love this color. It reminds me of a summer sunset and it does have a very subtle shimmer. It looks great on your skintone too. It was a bit harsher looking on my fairer skin.

That is a great looking color. I will have to try it this spring. Thanks for the review :)
