Alright, so this is an off-topic post – I decided to try doing my makeup today (for the first time in a very long time).
I was really proud of the way it came out, so I decided to do a quick swatch and review of the products I used. If you guys enjoy reading it, maybe I’ll do more like this in the future. Let me know what y’all think…
As I’m sure you can tell from the post title, I used the Wet n Wild ColorIcon “Walking on Eggshells” palette to put together this look, plus a dark brown from a huge palette of 55 or so shades that Ms Gents had.
The Walking on Eggshells palette has three basic colors – a shimmery white (brow bone), a darker brown (crease), and a shimmery pinkish-beige for the lid.
I used the brow bone, crease, and lid shades from the palette as directed, and applied the darker brown on the outer corner, which created a nice depth. In addition, I tightlined with Urban Decay black glide-on pencil, and lined the top lid with both liquid and pencil liners in black.
All in all, the palette worked very well – it had great pigmentation and applied very smoothly. I didn’t have to do too much back and forth to achieve the desired level of color, and it was also very easy to blend.
I only experienced minimal “fall-out” during application, which was easily swiped off with a puffy blush brush.
On the rest of my face, I applied BB Cream to get an even complexion, as well as MAC Moon River on my cheekbones, nose, and forehead. For my lips, I applied MAC Viva Glam 5 over some Eos lip balm.
But who cares about the rest of my face? The eyes are all that matter, really.
For the mascara, I used Maybelline Falsies Volum’ Express in Black Drama (see below, and above).
My nails just happened to match the mascara tube. Anyone want to guess the nail color?
I apologize if the eye ‘swatches’ are a bit awkward – taking pictures of eye makeup is relatively new to me.
Hope you all enjoyed the post! I sure enjoyed preparing it!!

I love how you didnt go totally overboard with application! The shadow looks fresh and glowy, and I love the highlighting of the inner corner! Your eyeliner is applied very well too- good call not going with a harsh black! Thumbs up! (I will post this comment on your fb page too:)

Ooh I need that palette now. I love the “I don’t make up on” look for everyday and those neutrals will be perfect for that. They look a little frosty though, are they? I prefer a matte finish and no glitter or frost for my eyes unless it’s a party look.

its all well and good showing us your nails and eyes but i think it may help your whole getting men to wear nail polish thing if we saw you as a person because it would make you feel more human if that makes sense

Tania,
That’s an interesting point — what exactly do you mean when you say “if we saw you as a person”?

i mean if you just posted a picture of yourself fully on the website to show you as like an actual person nstead of a pair of hands, i mean that in the nicest posible way of course. :)
